We are seeking a Postdoctoral Research Scientist to join the Cardiovascular Inflammation Laboratory (Monaco Lab) at the Kennedy Institute of Rheumatology.

The Cardiovascular Inflammation Laboratory is focused on the discovery of the cellular building blocks of atherosclerotic plaques. We combine single cell technologies (10x genomics, mass cytometry) and in vivo murine models of cardiovascular disease to decipher the intricate regulation of cell subset function and education in the atherosclerotic microenvironment with a focus on innate immunity.

In this role you will be responsible for managing your own academic research and administrative activities, which involves small scale project management, to co-ordinate multiple aspects of work to meet deadlines. You will be expected to adapt existing and develop new scientific techniques and experimental protocols as well as contribute your own ideas for new research projects. You will also test hypotheses and analyse scientific data from a variety of sources, reviewing and refining working hypotheses as appropriate

It is essential that you hold a Doctorate degree (or near completion) in Cardiovascular Science, Immunology or a related subject. You must also have a strong background in bioinformatics (R and or Python), including experience in analysis of single-cell RNA sequencing datasets. You will need to have proven research and organizational skills and be able to demonstrate an ability to work well independently as well as part of a team.

It is preferred that you hold a Home Office Personal Liscence and have experience working with animal models and experimental methodologies relating to cardiovascular disease. We would like you to demonstrate that you have experience in tissue imaging and single cell techniques such as flow cytometry, single cell biology and transcriptomics.

This is a fixed-term, full time position until 31/12/2024.

Due to the nature of the research at the Kennedy Institute of Rheumatology, this job will require additional security pre-employment checks:

•    A satisfactory basic Disclosure and Barring Service check

•    University security screening (eg identity checks)

The closing date for this position is 12 noon on 20th November 2023. You will be required to upload a CV and supporting statement as part of your online application.
