Postdoctoral fellowship – Social and Informational Practices of Vulnerable Populations and Prevention of Endocrine Disruptors (Praippes)

Job description

Offer DescriptionGeneral PresentationAs part of UPEC’s Erasme Program, the Research Unit Céditec (Center for the Study of Discourse, Images, Texts, Writings and Communication) is recruiting a postdoctoral fellow for 24 months, starting September 1, 2025.The Praippes postdoctoral fellowship is part of the collective project ApproPrev (“Appropriations of Health Prevention by Women from Working-Class Backgrounds”), led by C. Ollivier-Yaniv and C. Nicolle. ApproPrev aims to shed light on the relationship with the social norm of health insurance by understanding the construction of meaning by a segment of the population that has long been excluded from institutional campaigns. It focuses on the appropriation of health prevention recommendations by adult women from working-class backgrounds throughout their lives, using ethnographic surveys focusing in particular on information practices. Rooted in information and communication sciences (ICS) and drawing on contributions from the social sciences of health, ApproPrev is one of Céditec’s collective projects.Postdoctoral Project AimsScientifically, Praippes aims to understand how the populations most removed from prevention – considering their social, cultural, and gender characteristics, as well as their information practices and skills – appropriate the institutional recommendations that encourage them to limit their exposure to endocrine disruptors. The focus on endocrine disruptors is justified by the ubiquitous nature of these substances and the importance of prevention during pregnancy. In order to contribute to the objectives of the Erasme program (“Teaching and Research to Advance Societal Missions through Engagement”), Praippes is also characterized by its participatory (with prevention professionals and, if possible, the public), interdisciplinary (dialogue on the reception of prevention recommendations with medical researchers specializing in the exposome context), and interventional dimensions. The presentation of the project and the transfer of its results to public health stakeholders (notably ANSES, a partner of UPEC) is also worth considering.MissionsPreparation and implementation of the survey in the Val-de-Marne department, a UPEC territory characterized by significant social and cultural heterogeneity, in line with the ApproPrev theoretical framework and surveys.Promotion of the research: individual and collective publications in French and/or international peer-reviewed journals, presentations at conferences and congresses. – Design of formats for transferring results to institutional prevention stakeholders, to and with society and UPEC stakeholders.

  • Involvement in Céditec’s collective activities (seminars, workshops, etc.).
