Offer Description
We are offering post-doctoral positions on observational or theoretical studies in planet formation.
The postdoctoral researchers will join a research group funded by the European Research Council Project PROTOPLANETS (https://www.protoplanets-eu.org/ ), led by Myriam Benisty.
The group research focuses on understanding the processes of protoplanetary disk evolution as well as on the search for and characterization of protoplanets in disks. The postdoctoral researchers are expected to lead observational or theoretical studies related to state-of-the-art, multi-wavelength observations of protoplanetary disks and planets (with e.g., VLT(I), ALMA, JWST). They will be involved in large international collaborations working on infrared and sub-millimeter observational programs co-led by Myriam Benisty. The applicants will also be encouraged to develop independent research programs.
The postdoctoral research will be done in close collaboration with three institutes: the Institute for Planetary sciences and Astrophysics of Grenoble (France), the Côte d’Azur Observatory (Nice, France) and the Max Planck Institute for Astronomy (Heidelberg, Germany). All three institutes host theoretical and observational research groups working on planet formation, and are involved in cutting-edge instrumental developments for the VLT and ELT, providing a dynamic and competitive research environment.
A PhD in astronomy or related field is required. Previous experience in either observational astronomy, or theoretical studies linked with disk/planet observations would be appreciated. The positions are for 3 years, the last year pending successful collaboration within the team. Starting date is flexible. Remuneration depends on experience and includes full benefits.
We consider diversity as an asset within our team, and welcome applicants with diverse backgrounds and experiences.
Applicants should provide a single pdf file including a curriculum vitae, a publication list, and a brief (max 3 pages) statement of past and future research interests. Contact details of three referees should be provided in the CV. Reference letters will be requested for short-listed candidates.
Inquiries about the positions should be sent to [email protected]
