Job description
The Childhood Cancer & Blood Disorders group at VHIR is composed of clinical, translational and basic researchers. The group has three laboratories (Sarcomas lab, Neural Tumors lab and Rare Anaemia Disorders lab) and three research programs (Personalised Medicine, Clinical Trials Unit and Stem Cell & Advanced Therapies).The candidate will join the Childhood Cancer & Blood Disorders team to work on the project “A Phase I trial of ABTL0812 in children with relapsed/refractory neuroblastoma and extra-cranial solid tumors”. We are looking for an expert in childhood cancer genomics to identify predictive and prognostic biomarkers associated to ABTL0812-based treatments.Education and qualifications:Required:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Sciences (Biology, Biochemistry, Pharmacy, Biotechnology, Genetics, Medicine, etc..) and PhD preferably in Cancer.
- Fluency in Spanish and English.
Desired:
- Fluency in Catalan
Experience and knowledge:Required:
- At least 4 years of experience working in childhood cancer.
- Knowledge of childhood cancer genomics and biology of pediatric cancers.
- Knowledge of next-generation sequencing, whole exome sequencing & RNA sequencing techniques.
Desired:
- Experience in translational and/or clinical research.
- Publications as first author in the field of cancer genomics.
- Knowledge of study databases & bioinformatics.
- Motivation for research.
- Autonomy and proactive attitude.
- Good communication skills and a strong team player.
Main responsibilities and duties:
- Analysis and Interpretation of sequencing data (WES, RNAseq and WGS for pediatric patients samples).
- Analysis to identify predictive and prognostic biomarkers associated with ABTL0812-based treatments.
- Prepare presentation of results, communication material and scientific manuscripts for publications.
- Participation in laboratory outreach activities.
Labour conditions:
- Full-time position: 40h/week.
- Starting date: April 2025.
- Gross annual salary: 27 000 – 32 000 euros (Remuneration will depend on experience and skills. Salary ranges are consistent with our Collective Agreement pay scale).
- Contract: Technical and scientific activities contract linked to the project activities.
