We aim at the development of solutions that will help everyone on this planet live a safer life.At the moment, IMol is looking for a candidate for the position of Postdoctoral Researcher in Warsaw, Poland, for the implementation of the project 2024/55/D/NZ2/02049 financed by the .Group Leader: Dr. Eugene Baulin ( )Project title: “ARTEMANN: a method for identifying structural motifs and binding sites in RNA and DNA 3D structures”Download the description of the project:Short description of the group and/or the project:In the Laboratory of RNA Algorithms, we design innovative algorithms and tools to tackle the computational challenges of RNA structural studies and apply them to gain insights into RNA biology. Our research focuses on RNA sequence and structure alignment, secondary structure prediction, motif search, and 3D structure prediction.The goal of the project is to develop a tool for identifying recurrent structural motifs in nucleic acid 3D structures and to use it to annotate motifs and metal ion-, ligand-, and protein-binding sites in known structures, thereby revealing so far hidden structural and functional similarities and potential evolutionary implications.The candidates are asked to perform a test task:We are looking for a highly motivated person to:– Lead a project in software development for RNA computational biology– Participate in other projects of the lab and in structure prediction experiments, such as RNA-Puzzles and CASP– Participate in algorithm design, data analysis, and writing of manuscripts– Actively participate in lab meetings, scientific seminars, and conferencesProfile of candidates/requirements:– PhD degree in bioinformatics, computational biology, computer science or related fields– Solid knowledge of RNA structure organization, and common data formats (Fasta, Stockholm, PDB, mmCIF) and databases (RNAcentral, PDB, Rfam)– Proficiency in Python and popular libraries (numpy, sklearn, pandas, matplotlib, pytorch, …)– Very good command of English,– Motivation and passion for solving computational and biological problems.We offer:– Job type (employment contract): Full-time position for up to 36 months.
