Then this might be the job for you.In the research project *New Science of Mental Disorders* (NSMD), researchers from various Dutch universities collaborate on a novel approach to mental health problems-collecting a wealth of data in the process. We are looking for a recently graduated PhD researcher to (help) analyze large datasets using advanced network analysis and meta-analysis techniques, and to organize and manage these datasets.Job Description
You will work independently under the supervision of NSMD’s Scientific Director. Your tasks include supporting the analysis of large datasets, interpreting results, and writing scientific publications. For data management, you’ll closely collaborate with consortium researchers from various Dutch universities. You’ll be responsible for the optimal organization and management of research data and contribute to the improvement of our open data services. You’ll also help facilitate biannual workshops for early-career researchers on psychological network analysis, and contribute to teaching within the Psychology and/or Brain Science curricula at Maastricht University.Project Background
This position is part of the ambitious New Science of Mental Disorders research initiative, funded by the Dutch Ministry of Education, Culture and Science (www.nsmd.eu). Mental disorders are highly prevalent, affecting one in four adults during their lifetime. Our consortium-comprising researchers from multiple Dutch universities-is investigating whether a network-based approach to mental disorders can improve diagnosis and treatment. This work is conducted in close collaboration with Dutch mental healthcare institutions.Institutional Embedding
Maastricht University leads the New Science of Mental Disorders project (www.nsmd.eu). Partner universities include the University of Amsterdam and Leiden University. The postdoctoral researcher will be appointed in the Department of Clinical Psychological Science (CPS) within the Faculty of Psychology and Neuroscience (FPN) at Maastricht University. We expect the candidate to live near Maastricht University.Requirements
- Strong analytical skills;
- Expertise in advanced statistical analyses;
- Excellent organizational skills;
- Strong communication skills;
- Ability to (collaboratively) work in a team;
- Experience with organizing, managing, and analyzing large datasets is a plus;
- Proficient in English;
- Proficiency in Dutch is a plus;
- Academic education in psychological methods & statistics and/or data science;
- Academic-level thinking and working.

As a Postdoctoral Researcher at the Faculty of Psychology and Neuroscience, you will be employed by the most international university in the Netherlands, located in the beautiful city of Maastricht. In addition, we offer you:
- Good employment conditions. The position is graded in scale 10 – 11 according to UFO profile Researcher, with corresponding salary based on experience ranging from €3378,00 and €6209,00 gross per month (based on a full-time employment of 38 hours per week). In addition to the monthly salary, an 8.0% holiday allowance and an 8.3% year-end bonus apply.
- An employment contract for a period of 12 months with a scope of ideally full-time (1.0 FTE), though 0.8 FTE is negotiable. If proven suitable, an extension of 3 years will follow.
- At Maastricht University, the well-being of our employees is of utmost importance, we offer flexible working hours and the possibility to work partly from home if the nature of your position allows it. You will receive a monthly commuting and internet allowance for this. If you work full-time, you will be entitled to 29 vacation days and 4 additional public holidays per year, namely carnival Monday, carnival Tuesday, Good Friday, and Liberation Day. If you choose to accumulate compensation hours, an additional 12 days will be added. Furthermore, you can personalize your employment conditions through a collective labor agreement (CAO) choice model.
