Job description
Specialization: Stem cells and organoids, cell therapy, animal models in retinal degenerative diseasesSupervisors: Dr. Miguel ZapataResearch topic: Retinal organoids as a tool for developing cell therapies to treat retinal degenerative diseases.We are seeking a talented and motivated senior postdoc to join a research team headed by Dr. Josep García Arumí, and Dr. Miguel Zapata at the Vall d’Hebron Research Institute (VHIR)The successful candidate will have the opportunity to work on cell therapy to treat retinal diseases such as retinitis pigmentosa or age-related macular degeneration using retinal organoids as a model. The major research focus is on restoring retinal function in animal models.Education and qualifications:Required:
- PhD in Life Sciences (Biological Sciences, Biomedical Sciences) with more than 10 years of experience
- Animal Experimentation Certificate
Experience and knowledge:Required:
- Communication skills and fluency in written and spoken English
- Experience with small laboratory animals
- Experience in stem cells and organoids
- Experience in molecular and cellular biology techniques
- Expertise in ophthalmology
Desired:
- Good computer skills, basic knowledge of bioinformatics and statistical analysis
- Teamwork and proactivity, with the ability to work independently when necessary
- Well-organized and responsible in the workplace
Main responsibilities and duties:
- Responsible for managing human stem cells and organoid system models
- Development of cell therapies, performing animal surgeries, and conducting in vivo monitoring
- Experience working with laboratory animals
Labour conditions:
- Full time position: 40h/week
- Gross annual salary: Remuneration will depend on experience and skills. Salary ranges are consistent with our Collective Agreement pay scale – Contract length: 1.5 years
- Contract: Technical and scientific activities contract linked to the project activities
