Copenhagen Business School invites applications for a vacant Professorship in Performance Management and Supply Chain Management at the Department of Operations Management.The Department of Operations Management is a broad business studies department that researches and teaches managerial, operational challenges of decision-making and economics.The Department has a strong commitment to detailed empirical analysis and strives to hit the right mix of classical research projects and collaborations with corporative and institutional partners.Core research areas of the Department of Operations Management that the professor must cover one or more of are the five academic research areas: Supply chain management (design and management of flows of goods, services, knowledge and information between firms); Performance management (design, use, and effects of financial and non-financial measures in strategy development and implementation); Innovation management (deployment of management tools and mechanisms to connect technology, organization and markets); Operations management (relation between production, organization, and strategy in manufacturing and service industries); Managerial economics (decision modelling around pricing, costing, production planning and forecasting).It is the ambition of the Department to question and debate the boundaries of our many disciplines. This plurality allows for an unparalleled level of cross-disciplinary exchange of research ideas and in this interaction foster a strong, visionary intellectual environment.Teaching responsibilities of the Department comprise undergraduate and graduate teaching in undergraduate, graduate, masters, executive and PhD programmes in economics and business administration. Our mission is to deliver excellent research-led education to a world-wide audience at all levels, as well as to engage with business and society.The position is a full Professorship with research and teaching obligations.Successful applicants must have an international profile, a strong record of research publications, and teaching experience in performance management and supply chain management. They must be capable of providing dynamic leadership in the development of research and teaching, in securing external research funding, and in establishing strong ties with industry.To fulfill the research requirements of the position, the applicant chosen is expected to be physically present on a regular basis and actively participate in the teaching and research activities of the Department as well as maintaining and establishing broad links across CBS.Responsibilities

  • Personal research meeting high international standards, including responsibility for publishing, scientific communication and research-based teaching.
  • The academic development of discipline.
  • Research management, initiation of research projects, supervision of PhD students, international research co-operation, reviewing for academic journals.
  • Research education and further training of researchers, supervision of assistant professors and assessment committee work.
  • Teaching and associated examination in existing CBS programs, including Executive Education.
  • Promoting CBS’s academic reputation.
  • Initiating, fund raising and coordinating research projects.
  • Promoting the teaching and research capabilities of Copenhagen Business School and other relevant assignments at Copenhagen Business School.
  • Contributing to the administrative responsibilities of the Department and to CBS-wide tasks.
  • Communicating findings to the public in general and to CBS’s stakeholders in particular.
  • Active participation in the regular research activities, such as research seminars, workshops and conferences.

QualificationsWe are looking for candidates who can demonstrate a well established research profile within one or more of the areas of the department and profiles within performance management and supply chain management will have an advantage. Special emphasis will be put on a strong record of research publications at a high international level, and experience in curriculum development and documented teaching skills:

  • Candidates must be capable of providing dynamic leadership in the development of research and teaching, in securing external research funding, and in establishing strong ties with industry.
  • Candidates must document a high degree of relevant, original and up-to-date scientific publications at an international level within the areas performance management and supply chain management. The fields of performance management and supply chain management includes design and use of performance information in the value chain but is interpreted broadly.
  • Importance is put on the candidate’s ability to undertake research management and other relevant management functions.
  • The candidate should be able to document pedagogical qualifications, good teaching evaluations, and the ability to innovate within the educational field.
  • CBS emphasises the candidate’s ability to establish productive contacts with the business community.
