The Role
Oxfam in Malawi is looking for a result oriented individual to fill out a position of Programme Coordinator – WASH to oversee the response to the needs of the households/ Communities affected floods due to Cyclone Freddy in Nsanje and Chikwawa an districts. Under the supervision of the Humanitarian Programme Manager. The incumbent will have the following Responsibilities:
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES (Technical, Leadership, People and Resource management)
- Contribute to strategic direction on all cholera-related activities in close collaboration with Humanitarian Programme Manager, other SAF WASH coordinators.
- Effectively manage multiple budgets from donors with different levels of flexibility in order to deliver effective, timely service to communities in need.
- Assist in the set up and maintenance of reporting and monitoring systems for the program to meet the needs of program and donor reporting requirements
- In collaboration with the UNICEF Staff and government stakeholders draft exit strategies promoting hand-over of responsibilities to communities.
- Represent Oxfam in the health and WASH clusters and other international and national agencies and donors foras to ensure Cholera Response program is coordinated with other organizations.
- Manage the day-to-day running of the cholera response program in coordination with UNICEF and all other sectors.
- Manage UNICEF Funded Cholera Response Program and supervise all relevant staff.
- Advocate with all partners on improving access to quality health care and access to clean water, Hygiene and sanitation for vulnerable populations.
- Support capacity building of Oxfam and partner organizations staff to effectively lead, implement, monitor, and evaluate the project activities on WASH.
- Ensure that gender, protection and environmental impact are mainstreamed in all WASH projects.
Applicants should at least have a minimum of:
- Minimum of first Degree in public health, Environmental Sciences and any relevant field.
- Self-Awareness, Mutual Accountability and Enabling
- Comprehensive knowledge and experience of implementing humanitarian and resilience programs in the field of WASH, building on mature understanding of relevant issues derived from field practice
- Strong emergency program management knowledge with ability to ensure consistent quality against international and Oxfam humanitarian standards
- Comprehensive in Public Health engineering and health and sanitation promotion
