The team

The Northern Ireland team sit within the Energy Directorate of Energy Saving Trust.

Our main focus is to deliver the Northern Ireland Sustainable Energy Programme (NISEP), but we
also are involved in other areas of work and deliver campaigns helping NI householders save
energy and money.

The Programme Manager for NI heads up our Northern Ireland team. Our Project Manager manages
the day-to-day NISEP programme administration and oversees a team of currently four Programme
Support Officers. The team also includes an Assistant Programme Manager who supports the
Programme Manager to lead Energy Saving Trust’s work in Northern Ireland. The team collaborate
with external stakeholders regularly and other Energy Saving Trust teams.

The role 

We have an exciting opportunity to lead our Northern Ireland team, overseeing the management of
NISEP and identifying new opportunities for Energy Saving Trust to support decarbonisation and
the alleviation of fuel poverty in Northern Ireland.

NISEP is an £8 million grant programme that provides funding for energy efficiency measures for
domestic and commercial properties. Energy Saving Trust is the Programme Administrator of NISEP
on behalf of the Utility Regulator.

You will lead the team including overall management of NISEP and NISEP stakeholder
relationships and providing expertise, guidance, support, and financial oversight for both
NISEP and other projects within the team. You will maintain and enhance Energy Saving Trust’s
influence and impact in Northern Ireland acting as an ambassador for the organisation.

What you’ll do 

You will be a confident and experienced Programme Manager with proven experience of managing
grant programmes. The role will oversee and deliver all elements of contract management
including project management and monitoring reporting, financial planning and analysis,
procurement, creating and implementing processes and procedures for schemes, subcontractors,
and project team members. You will represent Energy Saving Trust, speaking at events and acting
as media spokesperson.

You will liaise with stakeholders and committees including NI Assembly Members, Assembly
Committees and Government Departments of the NI Executive and lead on client engagement and
management.

Your ability to plan and prioritise multiple competing activities, to drive and negotiate to
influence results through people is essential in this fast-paced environment. Solid programme
management skills and expert knowledge of NI domestic energy markets, policy and stakeholders
and advanced communication skills will underpin the successful delivery of the project.

What you’ll bring 

  • Strong project/programme management skills with proven track record of successfully
    delivering contracts and of strong financial control of large-scale programmes.
  • Excellent customer-focussed orientation and understanding of critical factors affecting
    customer satisfaction in a service industry.
  • A can-do attitude and a passion for continuous improvement of people and processes.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal and relationship management skills, proven ability
    to develop and maintain strong, productive relationships with stakeholders, working closely
    with them on a day-to-day basis.
  • Strong administrative and numeric skills as well as excellent attention to detail.
  • Resilient, able to work under pressure and to motivate the team to meet challenging
    targets.

This is a permanent position. Our standard weekly hours are 37.5 hours, Monday to Friday.

This is a full-time role.

We are open to flexible working locations (within Northern Ireland) and as standard we offer
all contracts on blended (home and office-based) working. We cannot accept applications
