Location: São Tomé, São Tomé & Príncipe

Fauna & Flora and Fundação Príncipe are working with a consortium of partners to strengthen
the conservation of the unique marine biodiversity of São Tomé & Príncipe. Funded by the
Blue Action Fund, Rainforest Trust, Arcadia and Oceans 5, the project’s overall goal is to
establish and ensure effective management of a network of Marine Protected Areas (MPAs) across
São Tomé & Príncipe using a co-management approach. We are seeking a qualified, fluent
Portuguese-speaking candidate to lead the national project team and partner consortium to
deliver this exciting and ambitious project. Employed directly by Fauna & Flora and under
secondment to FP, you will be based on São Tomé island.

Strong project and people management and leadership skills are essential to the role to ensure
a professional and motivated team that delivers effectively against project aims, objectives
and timelines. The role also requires a skilled and credible communicator, who is confident in
developing and managing relationships internally and with partner organisations and relevant
stakeholders, including regional and national government. You will have proven experience in
conservation project management with demonstrable skills and experience in engaging local
communities in conservation and the development of sustainable livelihood initiatives.

A strong team player, you will enjoy working in a dynamic team environment where creative
approaches and thinking are required to deliver project concepts. Experience raising funds for
projects will also be an advantage. A Master’s degree or equivalent level qualification in a
relevant discipline and strong experience in a related role and in working in remote and
sometimes challenging environments are expected. In return, the role offers the opportunity to
work within two ground breaking and entrepreneurial organisations, at the forefront of
conservation.
