This is a great opportunity for an individual who has a great sense of organisation, a sense of initiative and enthusiasm for providing support to partners and colleagues. This role will lead on logistics, administration and finance support to the South Caucasus Programme, and will support project implementation. Experience in peacebuilding is not essential, but this role would suit someone who has experience providing support to meetings, events and/or projects and wants to use their skills in this to support our peacebuilding in the region. Russian language skills are required.

Job purpose
The Programme Officer provides project and partner support necessary for the implementation of the South Caucasus programme. This includes approximately 60% on administration, logistics and finance support and 40% on project implementation support. The post holder will liaise with partners and consultants, and lead on managing programme events. The South Caucasus Programme (SCP) is based in London and works closely with partners in the region, in person and remotely. The candidate will be based in the UK, with weekly travel to the office in London, and they will undertake international travel. They will be supported by colleagues in the Europe Asia Department (E-AD), as well as colleagues within the South Caucasus Programme.

Person specification
Essential knowledge, skills and experience

  • Experience of and commitment to working as part of a team and wider organisations in an administrative and support position.
  • Strong organisational and administrative systems skills.
  • Experience supporting financial management including preparing budgets, monitoring expenditure and financial reporting.
  • Demonstrated expertise in organising events, such as roundtables, meetings or conferences, with proficient skills in addressing logistical challenges.
  • Excellent communications skills, and ability to work in a multi-cultural environment.
  • Appreciation of issues of confidentiality, and cross-cultural and political sensitivity
  • Experience remotely supporting partners on the successful joint delivery of work.
  • Experience of supporting monitoring, evaluation and learning and drafting narrative reports.
  • Initiative, enthusiasm and a problem-solving approach to new challenges.
  • Interest in and ability and willingness to travel to the South Caucasus region.
  • Understanding of and interest in peacebuilding and conflict transformation processes.
  • Fluent written and spoken English.
  • Competency in Russian

Desirable knowledge, skills and experience

  • Competency in other regional languages.
  • Experience in supporting project management of donor-funded grants.
  • Experience of fundraising
