We have an exciting opportunity for a new team member to work with us, empowering local
communities to achieve Net Zero throughout England. We are looking for a Project and
Communications Assistant who can work alongside our project and communications teams to help
inspire and support community groups from start up through to managing a portfolio of renewable
energy and energy efficiency projects.
About Community Energy South
Community Energy South was set up in 2013 to support the network of community energy groups in
the Southeast of England. Our mission is to support local communities to manage or own
renewable energy projects, increase energy efficiency, and reduce reliance on fossil fuels. We
also work together with our member groups to help alleviate fuel poverty.
Through our triple award-winning Community Energy Pathways Programme we are now working with
Local Authorities across the country to deliver a step by step approach to support the
development of the community energy sector. This includes business planning, funding support,
project development, collaboration and facilitating the uptake of new business models.
Job description
We are looking for a new team member that is passionate about working with communities to help
them take action on the climate crisis. You will have a wide-reaching role, working with both
the project delivery and communications teams, offering you career development opportunities
within our not-for-profit organisation.
You will be supporting our project management and communications teams to:
- Co-ordinate the development of new community energy organisations and projects.
- Produce tools and guidance for community groups.
- Expand our pool of expert peer mentors recruited from the community energy sector.
- Keep our website up to date, produce content and deliver social media posts and campaigns.
- Co-ordinate online and face-to-face training and events.
- Undertake administration tasks such as organising meetings and responding to enquiries.
Person specification
Essential:
- A keen interest in energy and environmental projects in a community-based setting.
- Some knowledge or experience in community energy.
- Previous experience in delivering outreach and communications activities, particularly
through social media and online content.
Desirable:
- Previous experience working with community groups, preferably in the community energy
sector. - Experience in business development and mentoring.
- Experience in delivering training and events.
- Educated to degree level in a related discipline.
