GE Vernova’s Power Transmission Service business is responsible for after-sales support of our installed base of power transmission equipment, from erection and commissioning, through spare parts, maintenance, and repair, to major overhaul and infrastructure extension projects.

We are now looking for an experienced Sourcing Manager to join our team and take responsibility for managing our supply chain for contractors and spare parts.

Experience of the power transmission industry would be an advantage, but enthusiasm, drive, and a proven track record in a corporate sourcing environment are paramount.

Job Description

Key roles and responsibilities include:

  • Manage the buying process for spare parts, materials, and sub-contractors across North Europe region (UK and Ireland, Nordic and Benelux countries)

  • Apply GE Sourcing Policy, and interface between supplier and GE Vernova with respect to specifications and budgets.

  • Interface with Engineering team to identify technical specifications.

  • Interface with Commercial, Tendering and Project Management teams to identify volume requirements.

  • Maintain SAP systems to ensure accurate costing data is available to the business. Maintain ERP system.

  • Identify and onboard new suppliers. Interface with colleagues in other territories with respect to overseas suppliers.

  • Ensure compliance with GE Vernova Delegation of Authority (DoA) protocols and segregation of duties with respect to Procurement.

  • Input into Tendering process to ensure material cost optimisation. Input into Project Management delivery to coordinate negotiations and interface with Commodity Managers and Procurement.

  • Manage supplier claims.

  • Most decisions fall within a defined framework, but within those guidelines the successful candidate will have a degree of autonomy and make recommendations to the business in respect of particular deals / purchase orders / suppliers.

Required Qualifications

  • The successful candidate should be CIPS qualified or be able to demonstrate equivalent experience, and should have a solid working knowledge of SAP systems.

  • Proficiency in French or other European language would be a significant advantage.

  • Experience of international trade including import/export would also be an advantage.

  • A bachelor’s degree in engineering is desirable but not necessary.

  • Vital to the role is a proven track record of building long-term supplier relationships and trust, and in identifying, qualifying, and on-boarding new suppliers.

Desired Characteristics

  • The role will involve travel within the UK and North Europe, and we are therefore looking for an individual who is able to work unsupervised, and to manage and prioritise their own workload.

  • As a service organisation, the availability of spare parts and components is vital to all areas of the business and the successful candidate should be able to develop relationships and influence across all functions.

  • Excellent oral and written communication skills are therefore necessary to develop an understanding of the business’s needs, to clearly communicate GE’s requirements to suppliers, and to ensure internal stakeholders are kept up to date with supplier delivery times, costs etc.

Working Arrangements

Flexible working arrangements including a mixture of home and office working are available, but it is anticipated that the extensive interactions necessary across multiple internal stakeholders will require the successful candidate to be in our Stafford offices on a regular basis. A typical work-week is therefore likely to include at least 2 or 3 days in our Stafford office. All employees are asked to be in the office on Wednesdays.
