Reporting to: Executive TeamThe Quality Coordinator is a central figure in the College’s portfolio of Higher Education provision and is responsible to the Executive Team for the oversight, direction and review of academic standards and quality assurance, including academic policy and practice across the College.Major Duties:The Role:
- To collaborate with designated staff and lead activities specifically relating to academic standards and quality and to provide guidance and direction to staff at all levels across the College and to the academic community, to ensure that the college’s reputation is protected and that the College is compliant with quality assurance and regulatory frameworks.
- The activities of the Quality Coordinator influence the way in which the College is perceived locally, nationally and internationally in terms of reputation, academic standards and the quality of the student experience.
- Flexibility is required, as the role occasionally requires weekend work.
Key Responsibilities include the following:
- To work with colleagues, including senior College managers to ensure that there are appropriate academic structures and policies in place that enable the College to implement its academic strategy, its obligations to its students and which ensure that the College’s good name and reputation is protected and is compliant with external academic quality assurance, regulatory and legal frameworks.
- In collaboration with the Executive Team, to ensure that the College meets Office for Students (OfS) requirements on the timeliness, accuracy and accessibility of information on the nature of the student learning experience, to include oversight of all Programme Specifications and Handbooks;To play a leading role in shaping the quality management framework and the academic regulatory framework in order to promote academic standards of College awards and the quality of the student experience across all the College’s provision.
- To ensure that policies and procedures are effective and promote quality assurance, excellence, enhancement
- Management, development and update of quality assurance policy and procedures and related documentation.
- To ensure that there are effective and integrated quality management processes and procedures in place across the College and that these are followed by departments across the whole organisation.
- To ensure targets for enrolment, attendance, retention, attainment and progression are met for Higher Education students.
- To play a lead role in the initiation, development and implementation of major institutional projects and reviews.
- Responsible for annual course and module monitoring
- Support for the College’s student retention strategy
- Providing advice on policies to enhance the student experience
- Appeals and complaints
- Support and advice for Student Services in areas such as student discipline, fitness to study
- Regulatory advice to staff and students
- Foster good and consistent assessment management practices across the college
- To play a lead role for the College in maintaining and developing relationships with the QAA and other related or successor bodies.
- Act as Committee Secretary to designated committees (including Assessment Boards) and provide advice as required.
