Who we are looking forState Street Poland is looking for a manager and leader responsible for Model Risk Management function within Enterprise Risk Management organization in Poland. In collaboration with the Global MRM, Head of MRM in Poland will be responsible for conducting model validation activities and leading a team of highly qualified individuals within the existing ERM department. The Poland team will cover the models used at State Street to make business and operating decisions—most notably regulatory and economic capital models, as well as insuring the implementation of Model Risk Governance Program guidelines and requirements. These models are in areas including wholesale credit risk, market risk, operational risk, liquidity risk and asset management.Why this role is important to usThe team you will be joining plays an important role in the overall success of the organization. Join us if making your mark in the financial services industry from day one is a challenge you are up for.What you will be responsible forAs Quantitative Analyst and team manager, you will Lead a team to conduct model validation and model governance activities:

  • Perform validations in accordance with the model risk policy and guidelines on various models in areas including wholesale credit risk, market risk, operational risk, liquidity risk and asset management..
  • Understand regulatory requirement such as Basel, CECL, IFRS9, CCAR, ICAAP and keep abreast of recent developments in academic research, industry practice and regulatory expectations as related to credit risk, market risk, investment risk, climate risk and AI.
  • Streamline the existing validation and analytical process and improve execution efficiency to meet business needs
  • Perform deep analysis on large scale datasets through applying statistical analysis or machine learning approaches.
  • Conduct quantitative analysis to evaluate and quantify risks of various models.
  • Communicate with model developers and business to relay the issues and feedback and capture the action plans.
  • Prepare and present required reports/reviews to management and regulators.
  • Day-to-day management and coaching of all direct reports,
  • Ensuring that Poland Team follows model validation policies and maintains model inventory across the various business units and functions,

  • Management experience leading a team of risk or risk related professionals,
  • Experience related to quantitative finance or quantitative research, ideally within a major bank.
  • Strong verbal and written communication, negotiation and influencing skills, with ability to effectively articulate ideas and analysis to senior management,
  • Ability to build consensus and relationships among senior managers, stakeholders, and the team.
  • Strong programming skills in at least one programming language (R, Python, MATLAB, C++, SAS etc.)
  • Hands-on and results oriented, willingness to work in a position with uneven and high priority project work,
  • Ability to gain trust and respect of business partners,
  • Able to complete tasks independently and as part of a team to high quality standards.

Education & Preferred Qualifications

  • PhD or master’s degree in related disciplines (e.g., Finance, Economics, Statistics, Econometrics, Mathematics, Computer Science or Engineering) with extensive business knowledge and strong technical skills.
  • At least 8 years of experience in roles related to quantitative finance or quantitative research (model validation, model development, etc.);
  • Demonstrated experience working with Global Regulators in the banking or financial services sectors; proficient understanding of various regulations such as Basel, CECL, IFRS9, stress testing and CCAR Proven interpersonal and communication skills.
