R&D Specialist – Polymers & Coatings
Our client, a well-established market leader in synthetic resins for construction, develops high-performance solutions used worldwide. Their products are integral to demanding building and infrastructure projects across the globe, giving your work immediate, visible impact in the field. Within their strongly developed R&D department, professionals grow through end-to-end involvement in the innovation cycle – from experimental design and lab testing to data analysis, reporting and input into new product developments and improved systems. Backed by a solid Belgian investment group with a hands-on, entrepreneurial culture, this organisation offers both stability and genuine growth opportunities.
Benefits
* Play a central role in an advanced R&D department where you follow the full trajectory: planning experiments, running lab tests, analysing data and contributing directly to new products and improved systems.
* Join a dynamic, multidisciplinary R&D team in an innovative and stimulating work environment, with plenty of room for your own initiative, brainstorming and close collaboration with other departments.
* Enjoy a challenging and varied position in Wommelgem with a competitive salary, excellent secondary benefits, a flexible work environment and clear opportunities for professional development and career progression.
Role Responsibilities
* Plan, execute and document laboratory experiments on synthetic resin-based coatings, adhesives and sealants, ensuring high-quality, reliable results that feed directly into product development and optimisation.
* Analyse experimental data, interpret results and translate your findings into clear reports and recommendations for the R&D Manager and wider team, supporting strategic decisions and innovation roadmaps.
* Collaborate closely with colleagues from R&D, production, quality and application support to refine formulations, improve systems and help bring robust, innovative solutions to construction and infrastructure projects worldwide.
Requirements
* A relevant scientific education in a field related to chemical or materials research, combined with proven experience as an R&D Laborant – giving you the foundation to quickly take ownership of complex lab projects.
* Strong knowledge of product development processes for synthetic polymer/resin-based coatings, adhesives and sealants, plus hands-on experience planning and conducting lab experiments, including maintenance and calibration of lab equipment – enabling you to work efficiently and independently.
* Excellent analytical and communication skills, with the ability to design, execute and interpret complex experiments, report results clearly and collaborate effectively in an interdisciplinary, dynamic environment where accuracy and flexibility are key.
