Research Associate in Smart Communications Regulation

vacanciesin.eu

An exciting opportunity has arisen to join the exciting ESRC-funded project “The Internet of Tactical Engagement (IoTE): Acceptability of Data-driven Public Communications in Smart Homes”. This project aims to address public attitudes towards data-driven communications by public authorities and civil society organisations using smart technologies, and the associated normative and regulatory implications. You will be working with Dr Jiahong Chen (Principal Investigator, PI) and supported by the wider team as well as the vibrant research environment at the University of Sheffield.

The two primary empirical components of the project will involve a co-creation design-fiction research workshop to generate a range of scenarios, which will then be used to identify the boundary-defining factors of public perceptions in a focus group study. You will be contributing to both the research workshop and focus group study by co-designing and executing both activities with the research team, collecting and analysing data, (co-)authoring research outputs and disseminating them to academic and non-academic audiences. Throughout your post, you will be supported to develop your own research identity, agenda, skills and independence for the success of your future career.
