About the jobThe position is for a Post-Doctoral Researcher in the James group at QUB. The goal is to undertake research into the development of porous liquids towards water-capture applications as part of a collaborative project with other renowned international research groups. The successful applicant is also expected to provide a leadership role within the James group.About the personThe person must have, or be about to obtain a PhD in Chemistry or closely-related discipline (‘About to obtain’ is normally defined as within 3 months of application date).
- Demonstrable experience of:
- Research in the area of porous liquids especially with regard to aqueous systems.
- Using experimental methods to carry out synthesis, analyses, critical evaluations, and interpretations of experimental data as relevant to the research project, in particular synthesis of porous materials through traditional and mechanochemical means, characterisation of surface areas, porosities, measurement of gas solubilities etc.
- Working effectively as part of a research team in the development and promotion of the research themeStrong publication record commensurate with stage of career.
- Ability to contribute to broader management and administrative processes.
- Practical problem solving skills, independence of thought and initiative
- Ability to assess and organise resources.
- Demonstrable ability to communicate complex information in English effectively in oral and written format.
- Ability to build relationships to develop internal and external networks.
- Commitment to continuous professional development
- Must be able to travel to USA and Ireland for research collaborations.
