Offer DescriptionAs part of the ANR project ClaMoMed (Classification des monnaies médiévales) led by Thibault Cardon (CNRS, CRAHAM), to establish the classification of 5th-6th century coins, with the support of V. Geneviève, G. Sarah and Th. Cardon (Task 14 of the project). The mission requires a very good knowledge of Late Antique numismatics and archaeometry. The person recruited will report to G. Sarah, scientific manager of the project for the partner IRAMAT.Main tasks, in collaboration with V. Geneviève (INRAP):
– establish a tree structure of 5th-6th century coinage for present-day France (political entities, issuers, species), according to the method used in the project;
– write the notices according to the template provided (political entities, issuers, species);
– propose a nomenclature for each species, according to the method used in the project;
– enrich the notices of monetary species according to the template provided (circulation areas and durations, specific uses, risks of confusion, etc.).Secondary tasks, in collaboration with the project’s scientific managers:
– contribute to the establishment of a consolidated version of the classification standards;
– contribute to the elaboration of the drawing standards and editorial format;
– resolve classification problems as far as possible, or clarify those that remain unresolved.IRAMAT is a multi-site research unit based at Belfort (IRAMAT-LMC with a branch at Jarville), Orléans (IRAMAT-CEB) and Saclay (IRAMAT-LAPA). The main supervisory bodies are the CNRS and the University of Orléans. The Université de Technologie de Belfort-Montbéliard and the Université Paris-Saclay are secondary academic supervisors. IRAMAT also reports to 3 regional delegations: DR04, DR06, DR08. IRAMAT is built around a scientific project with an interdisciplinary team of archaeometers, historians and archaeologists. Driven by archaeological and historical issues, research at IRAMAT leads to the development of analytical protocols for characterizing and dating materials, mainly inorganic, and heritage objects. This fully interdisciplinary approach, at the crossroads of archaeology, chemistry, history and physics, and fully integrating the digital humanities, offers a broad and systemic vision of the evolution of the production, distribution and use of materials in ancient societies over a vast period extending from prehistory to the modern era.
The place of work is the Orléans site of IRAMAT UMR 7065.
