Job title:

Researcher in Plasma Generation Technology – Postdoctoral Fellowship

Company:

Job description

Offer DescriptionNew Manufacturing Processes Unit carries out innovation and development projects in the field of new technologies for advanced manufacturing processes with a view to overcoming the challenges faced in industry todayEurecat has developed a plasma generation technology using microwave generators. Unlike other technologies such as induction plasma, electric arc, thermal plasma, or capacitive discharge, it stands out for being highly precise and much more energy-efficient. It is also notable for its great flexibility and its application in multiple fields.Eurecat New Manufacturing Processes Unit is offering post doctoral researcher position to develop the following applications

  • Treatment/recovery/reconditioning of particles, with the goal of obtaining spherical or semi-spherical particles suitable for 3D printing or surface deposition processes.
  • Gas decomposition/green chemistry; the elimination of harmful and dangerous gases (decomposition of CFCs, hydrogen sulfide, etc.). Additionally, alternatives to the generation of certain compounds or materials are proposed by combining others (hydrogen generation, ammonia generation, etc.).
  • Decarbonization or defossilization; Using carbon dioxide as a raw material for industrial use presents interesting challenges and solutions. Even the simplest application (generation of heat with air, hydrogen, or other gases) is achievable and can benefit many energy-intensive industries.

Functions and responsibilities:

  • Simulation of plasma generation via microwaves to develop new plasma generation equipment.
  • Instrumentation of laboratory plasma generation systems to capture data and verify simulations.
  • Optimization of parameters used in the laboratory (input gas flow, type of gas used, microwave power, flame geometry, gas or powder production at the output, among others).
  • Design and development of new laboratory equipment.
