AAU Energy has approx. 300 employees of many nationalities, of which 25 are administrative staff. In addition, AAU Energy constantly has approx. 50-70 guest researchers from around the world.Research and teaching are in the absolute world elite in the field of energy, and we have extensive and leading workshop and laboratory facilities, where research and innovation are carried out in direct collaboration with industry to a great extent.The position is offered in relation to the research group”Fluid Power” and the Researcher will be positioned to the section for“Mechatronic Systems”.We are seeking a highly motivated and talented researcher to join the HyRel research project. This exciting opportunity involves working on reliability modeling, failure analysis, and diagnostics in fluid power systems and components. The HyRel project is dedicated to enhancing the reliability of fluid power pitch systems for wind turbines, in collaboration with world-leading industry partners. As a member of our team, you will contribute to groundbreaking research aimed at improving the performance and longevity of critical components in renewable energy systems.Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct comprehensive research on the lifetime and remaining lifetime assessment of selected components, utilizing advanced analytical techniques.
  • Design and execute highly accelerated lifetime testing protocols for various components to predict their durability and performance under extreme conditions.
  • Develop and implement innovative condition monitoring and fault detection techniques for both individual components and entire systems, ensuring early identification and mitigation of potential failures.
  • Collaborate closely with industry partners to translate research findings into practical solutions that enhance the reliability and efficiency of fluid power systems.
  • Specialize in reliability modeling and fault detection and diagnosis, contributing to the development of robust models and methodologies that improve system reliability and performance.
  • Participate in interdisciplinary research activities, working alongside experts in fluid power, control theory, and mechanical engineering to achieve project goals.

Specific qualifications:

  • PhD in fluid power or related fields, with experience in modeling, analysis, and simulation of dynamical systems and control theory.
  • In-depth knowledge of fluid power systems and components, including their working principles and failure modes.
  • Proven experience in reliability modeling, FMEA/FTA, and mechanical wear analysis.
  • Strong analytical and deductive skills for root cause analysis.
  • Excellent mathematical skills.
  • Hands-on experience with laboratory work.
  • Proficiency in English with strong communication skills.
