Developing, supporting and cultivating our research culture and talent is a key part of the University of Nottingham’s strategic delivery plan for research. We are seeking a skilled communicator with significant experience of delivering impactful professional development for this role which will help to deliver our ambitions in terms of building a collegiate, inclusive and ambitious research environment through enhancing our provision for our research-focused staff community and their line managers.

The appointee will be a skilled communicator with excellent, training facilitation and presentation skills and the ability to shape, develop and augment the University’s existing training and development provision for post-doctoral and research-focussed staff.  They will need to have the ability to motivate, influence and build relationships with multiple stakeholders across the university, balance their competing priorities and develop and implement initiatives in close collaboration with them. The role-holder be responsible for helping to foster an inclusive and strong researcher community and culture.

The role holder will lead activities to support the University’s commitment to the Researcher Development Concordat and, in particular, the responsibilities associated with Principle 3: professional and career development. They will need to build relationships with multiple stakeholders, including institutional committees representing research-focussed staff from across the university, balance competing priorities, and develop and implement initiatives in close collaboration. 

Applications are invited from candidates who have experience designing, developing, managing and evaluating professional development activities, extensive experience of stakeholder engagement, and an understanding of how to apply these in the context of researcher development. The person appointed will have an exceptional level of professionalism, tact, organisational ability and strategic thinking as well as a demonstrable commitment to Equality Diversity and Inclusion in research.

This role is based in the Researcher Academy, which works to promote a healthy research culture, to cultivate researcher excellence, and develop creative partnerships that enable researchers to flourish. 

This is a permanent, full time (36.25 hours per week) post. Applications are also welcome from candidates wishing to work part-time (minimum 25 hours per week). The place of work is University Park Campus with some home working agreed on a departmental basis.
