The role of Reserve Officer is central to Durham Wildlife Trust delivering its commitment to nature’s recovery and showcasing the highest standards of site based management. 

The Reserve Officer (North) is responsible for practical habitat and site infrastructure delivery across the Durham Wildlife Trust estate in Gateshead, South Tyneside, Sunderland and the Durham Coast. This will involve delivering practical management and working with volunteers to deliver practical works to the highest standard across a suite of locally and nationally important sites. The post holder will work closely with the Reserves Manager to develop suitable work programmes and with the Reserves Manager and the Conservation Volunteer Officer to deliver a rewarding experience for volunteers.

The post holder will have a high level of knowledge of practical estate management activities and will have a track record of delivering estate management to a high standard. They should have knowledge of ecology relevant to the Durham Wildlife Trust area and experience of leading volunteers on practical tasks. 

It will be a highly rewarding role that will allow the successful candidate to play an active role in nature’s recovery from the Tees to the Tyne.
