Retrocession Analyst

Within the Finance department, the Risk Partnerships team contributes to the underwriting strategy of SCOR by purchasing retrocession and developing third party capital solutions to ensure the protection of SCOR’s capital and balance sheet while providing sufficient underwriting capacity and generating fees. 

The person will collaborate with various internal departments to ensure data accuracy and insightful analysis.

Key duties and responsibilities

Under the supervision of the Risk Partnerships Chief Technical Officer, your main responsibilities will be:

  • Reporting development: 
  • Develop, design and implement reports to monitor outward activities and track performance metrics such as premium, claims, recoveries for both P&C and L&H business. 
  • Enhance existing reporting tools and processes to streamline data extraction
  • Collaborate with IT, data and innovation teams for projects related to Risk Partnerships data and analytics 
  • Identify opportunities to automate and improve outward reporting processes
  • Data Analysis and Activity monitoring:
  • Monitor and analyze retrocession performance in relation to budget and expectations
  • Work in collaboration with internal teams (underwriting, accumulation, claims, operations etc) to obtain data for retrocession reporting and analytics 
  • Support for presentations to Management, Board etc.
  • Collateral monitoring: 
  • Develop dashboard to monitor collateral consumption and releases for Third Party Capital deals
  • Monitoring and reconcialing collateral position between counterparties and internal records

Required experience & competencies

  • Minimum 5 years of experience in reinsurance 
  • Knowledge of insurance accounting principles is a plus
  • Knowledge in Python is a must
  • Strong proficiency in Microsoft Excel, other reporting tools (PowerBI or Tableau)
  • Knowledge of Cat modelling is a plus
  • Strong analytical, organizational and communication skills
  • Excellent attention to detail and ability to manage large sets of complex data
  • Strong proble-solving skills with ability to work independently and in a team
  • Pro-activity and ability to manage multiple priorities in a dynamic and fast-paced environment
  • Fluency in french & english (written and spoken)

Required Education 

  • Master’s degree in Actuarial science or equivalent (Engineering or Finance) with a strong mathematical and IT component or equivalent.
