Job Summary

Within the Finance department, the Risk Partnerships team contributes to the underwriting strategy of SCOR by purchasing retrocession and developing third party capital solutions to ensure the protection of SCOR’s capital and balance sheet while providing sufficient underwriting capacity and generating fees. 

You play a critical role in advising and providing guidance to the account managers for contractual negotiation, drafting and reviewing clauses. You ensure contracts are in good order for execution and compliant with regulatory and group requirements. You are also the main point of contact with legal teams and with external counterparties for contractual discussions and in case of dispute regarding contract execution.

Key duties and responsibilities

Your main responsibilities will be to:

  • Be the point of contact for external counterparties (brokers, retrocessionnaires) with regards to contractual discussions, amendments and queries.
  • Provide support, advice and guidance to the account manager in the negotiation of clauses and in case of disagreements. 
  • Draft and review contracts and clauses in conjunction with the respective account managers. This includes ensuring that contracts are in line with SCOR’s compliance, governance and any requirements (being local, at group level, regulatory, etc.). 
  • Facilitate regular communication with brokers and retrocessionnaires to address any issue. In case of contract dispute with external counterparties, ensure timely and effective resolution.
  • Be the point of contact with SCOR’s legal and compliance teams whenever necessary.
  • Work closely with internal teams (retrocession technical accounting, claims, etc.) to ensure contract execution.
  • Maintain records of all finalized agreements in SCOR systems. This includes ensuring that the system’s information is in line with contractual terms and conditions.
  • Keep up to date with changes, may it be regulatory, new contractual standards, etc. that may affect outward contracts and pro-actively address these changes within agreements. Assist in educating team members on contract clauses and industry trends that may impact the business operations.

Required experience & competencies

  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in reinsurance contract management with strong knowledge of reinsurance structures and contract law
  • Experience in drafting and negotiating reinsurance agreements
  • Familiarity with regulatory requirements governing reinsurance agreements.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with a strong ability to negotiate and build relationships with internal teams, brokers and retrocessionnaires.
  • Excellent English written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and priorities in a dynamic and fast-paced environment.

Required Education 

Master’s degree in law or related field
