The Role:

 

As a roving programme lead, you will be deployed to countries and global programmes as and when needed to provide high quality programme management support.

 

These will include deployment to achieve the following purposes:

 

  • Lead the inception period for certain projects such as high risk, MCPs, or complex programmes;
  • Gap filling for PLs on critical large scale and complex and or multicounty Projects/programmes;
  • Coming in as support when programmes/projects in specific countries are not going well or not on track (high risk programmes/contracts);
  • Supporting of PLs or CDs to embed good programme management practices Coaching mentoring of PLs or CDs
  • In specific cases, they may be deployed to cover the gap in Country Director/Deputy Country -Directors Head of programmes roles.

 

The Roving programme lead is expected to be fully deployed throughout the year typically expected to work between 2 – 4 months in any one location and to be in country deployment for at least 80% of the year.

We are looking for people which are interested and willing to travel to different countries where Oxfam works, often at short notice and working in different challenging programmes and contexts.

 

The candidate for the role will also be/have:

 

  • Robust country/regional project and programme management expertise leading the development, delivery and closure of large and complex programmes
  • Excellent people and teamwork skills. Proven track record of managing staff in insecure and unpredictable contexts.
  • Self-starter, highly motivated, able to prioritise effectively and think strategically. High levels of financial and operational and contract management skills; able to identify, mitigate and manage risk. Excellent communication skills in English.
  • Solid understanding of the social, political and economic issues affecting women’s rights, solid understanding and demonstrated experience of, and commitment to, both mainstreaming gender within programmes, as well as directly promoting gender justice and women’s rights throughout programme implementation, as well as organisational practices.
  • Experience managing performance of others and helping people to develop, grow and achieve their potential, including increasing diversity and inclusion in teams and / or workplaces
