This is a fantastic opportunity to come and join Thames Water as a Safety, Health and Environmental (SHE) Technician Apprentice. Trained SHE Technicians foster a safety culture that mitigates risks and incidents, boosting operational efficiency.This course directly maps to the delivery of ISO45001 and ISO14001, safety, health and environmental standards.Our over-arching diversity and inclusion aim is to ensure Thames Water is a diverse and inclusive place to work. We encourage applications from everyone and offer extra support for those who need it throughout the recruitment process.Start date: 1 st September 2025Base Location: You will be expected to travel across various Thames Valley and London sites depending on your location.Working hours: 36 hours per week Monday- FridayProgramme Length: 15 MonthsTraining provider details: Basingstoke College of Technology, Worting Rd, Basingstoke RG21 8TNQualification you will obtain: You will gain a Level 3 Health, Safety and Environmental (SHE) Technician Apprenticeship Standard.Entry Requirements: A minimum of two GCSEs at grade 4 or above (A*-C), in Maths and English OR functional skills level 2 in Maths and English.Don’tworry if you don’t have your grades yet, if you are due to sit your exams thisyear,we still want to hear from youifyour predicted grades meet our requirements.Other immediate demands: You will also need to be able to drive and will be expected to travel to different sites across Thames Valley/ London for this apprenticeship.Application Process:Step one: Click apply and you will be asked to complete a short online application where we ask basic information about yourself, your current qualifications/ predicted grades and why you want to apply for this apprenticeship.(we do not ask for CV’s at this stage).Step two: You will be sent a short online assessment please make sure you are in a quiet environment and have given yourself enough time to complete it.Step three: You will be sent a link to book onto a telephone screening call with a member of our Resourcing Team this is an opportunity for us to get to know you better and ask you some questions.Step 4: If you are successful in our screening process you will be invited to an in person assessment which will include a group exercise and a competency based interview.Assessment Centre Dates- Assessments will be held in April and you will be invited for a morning or afternoon session.If you need additional support at any stage of the application process then please let us know by contacting [email protected]What you’ll be doing as a SHE Technicians Apprentice

  • Planned site visits including assurance and engagement – risk based with quantity of SHE inspections confirmed depending on business area and requirement.
  • Support the monitoring of performance against the Safety, Health and Wellbeing strategy and objectives, system, standards, processes and procedures.
  • Provide effective information for inclusion in reporting and feedback to stakeholders.
  • Support site HSW assurance to highlight good practice, risks and non-compliance.
  • Opportunity to support TW teams on HSW compliance
  • Support low-level incident investigations.

About the Apprenticeship programme

  • You will complete a Level 3 Health, Safety and Environmental (SHE) Technician Apprenticeship Standard.
  • Your training will be done via virtual delivery.
