Offer DescriptionWe are looking for a person holding MSc title or final-year student, who is interested in continuing scientific work and in preparing a doctoral dissertation. The project provides employment for one scholarship holder in a multidisciplinary project concerning structural and mechanical engineering. The research will take place at Gdansk University of Technology.
The project’s main goal is to develop non-destructive diagnostic procedures for assessing steel structures subjected to corrosion degradation and crack growth. The project involves explicit recognition, analytical description, and utilization of low and high-frequency vibrations in corroded steel structures in the context of their diagnostics.
Eligibility criteria
1. Masters in mechanical, ocean or civil engineering, material science, physics, civil engineeing or related fields.
2. High average grade obtained during studies.
3. Good knowledge of written and spoken English.
4. High motivation for scientific work and a strong commitment to research work.Tasks
1. Numerical research related to methods for modelling of propagation of elastic wave in solids.
2. Experimental investigation of guided wave propagation in steel structural elements
3. Development of algorithms for signal processing and damage detection in Matlab environment
4. Preparation of reports and journal papers based on results analysis.
