The Institute of Chemical Research of Catalonia (ICIQ) is seeking a Scientific group coordinator to work in Prof. Antonio Echavarren’s research group.ICIQ is one of the world’s internationally recognized leading institutions in the field of chemistry committed to solving major social and economic challenges by conducting top quality research in three main areas: Sustainable Catalysis, Renewable Energy and Health. The institute also aims at training the future generation of scientists by offering high-quality educational programs to master, PhD students and postdoctoral researchers (full details on ).ICIQ is looking for a motivated and experienced scientist with an multidisciplinary mindset and wide range of experience to join Prof. Echavarren research group. The successful candidate will work in collaboration with the principal investigator and will contribute significantly to the design and execution of research projects.Responsibilities:

  • The candidate will work in the design and synthesis of new gold-catalysts and its application for the total synthesis of biologically active molecules.
  • He/she will co-supervise the experimental work of Master and PhD students in the laboratory and will work computationally in the study of reaction mechanisms and new catalysts design.
  • The candidate will write reports, scientific publications and assist in the manuscripts and project proposals proofreading.
  • The candidate will be responsible for the maintenance and operating of laboratory equipment, and chemical inventory.
  • The candidate will be responsible for the purchase of chemicals, laboratory material and laboratory equipment.
  • He/she will present research project results at congresses and events.
  • He/she will be responsible of chemical wastes management and laboratory safety.

Requirements:

  • PhD in Chemistry.
  • Strong background in organic synthesis, advanced chromatographic. separations, and analytical determination.
  • Leadership in the development of research projects.
  • High technical abilities within a chemistry laboratory.
  • Good knowledge of Catalan, Spanish.
  • Excellent command of English (written and oral) is required.

We offer:

  • Long-term interim contract
  • Remuneration according to individual’s qualifications/experience.
  • Annual salary split in twelve monthly payments.
  • Incorporation: March 2025.
