Thank you for considering Smit Lamnalco as your potential employer in the marine services industry!Job DescriptionWe are currently looking for a Senior Buyer to join our growing team at Smit Lamnalco. As Senior Buyer, you will be responsible for managing end-to-end procurement and supply chain processes related to dry docking operations, subcontracting, and vessel-related purchases. This role ensures timely and cost-effective acquisition of goods and services in compliance with technical specifications for both Vessel dockings PMR (Planned Maintenance & Repairs ) and the day to day operations RMR (Running Maintenance & Repairs).You will independently assure and/or assist in the continued development of the procurement and supply chain function and showcase a multidisciplinary “process way of working” in which you guide the overall (commercial) process and the interactions with the technical-operational superintendents, internal support departments (i.e. Legal) and the external stakeholders.You will support and lead the implementation of structured procurement processes at tactical and operational levels, working closely with the Procurement Manager to manage procurement activities for vessel dockings, subcontracted services, and operational vessel requirements.Accountability and Responsibilities
- Manage the complete tendering and sourcing process, including evaluation, pre-selection, negotiation, and contracting (for PMR – vessel dry-dockings).
- Ensure a process way of working in which cost-effective purchasing in compliance with technical specifications, safety requirements, and legal regulations is being achieved.
- Support the further development and implementation of procurement strategies and operational processes. (Objective is to establish a Framework / roadmap in the way of working that can be used for the ongoing projects in execution and any future prospects)
- Analyze opportunities for improvement across strategic, operational, and tactical procurement and supply chain processes.
- Support and assist fellow procurement team members (3 FTE Buyers) where requested.
- Perform Supplier Prequalification’s (financial-managerial) and monitor (Main) supplier performances through the creation of subcontractor & supplier performance evaluations.
- Establish, negotiate, and manage contracts and frame agreements, focusing on risk mitigation and cost-effectiveness.
- Prepare commercial bid comparisons and recommendations for contract awards.
- Process requisitions, initiate RFQs and RFPs, and conduct supplier negotiations for the (Operational and tactical Purchases)
- Monitor and expedite deliveries, coordinating with suppliers, freight forwarders, and receivers.
- Purchase spare parts, materials and equipment as per specifications and deadlines.
- Support with monthly management reports, Identification, alignment and/or establishment of framework agreements, SLAs, and contracts.
QualificationsRequirements for the positionBachelor’s degree, preferably in a relevant technical or supply chain discipline.Minimum of 6 to 10 years of relevant work experience in technical purchasing.Background in the shipping, marine, or offshore industries.Proven experience with subcontracting services and contracting of shipyards.Strong knowledge of technical and marine products, terminology, and industry practices.Familiarity with local and international supplier networks and market dynamics.Demonstrated ability to implement and support multidisciplinary process approaches.Experience in process optimization and change management is highly desirable.Ability to independently manage procurement processes for both operational and project-related scopes.Capable of identifying and executing procurement improvements in coordination with relevant stakeholders.The successful candidate must be living in the Netherlands and being able to work in the Netherlands (being a local or in possession of a work permit).
