PURPOSE AND OBJECTIVES
SAP´s Global Procurement Organization (GPO) is continuously transforming and evolving into an agile & strategically focused procurement organization. ABOUT THE POSITION
The Product & Technology Services Category Team is part of the Global Procurement Organization and provides excellent business partnering to both internal and external stakeholders. The category is responsible for defining and executing the global procurement strategy and the associated governance model in close collaboration with the various SAP board areas. A key focus lies in driving effective stakeholder engagemen and proactive supplier management across the globe to ensure strong alignment, transparency, and continuous value creation. In this role, the category holds end-to-end accountability for all sourcing activities related to Technology Services, such as Application Consulting, Application Development, Application Maintenance, and IT Infrastructure Services, primarily focusing on SAP’s internal demand.
We are seeking a Category Buyer with an extensive Procurement background and with strong focus on internal business partnerships and excellent supplier management. The successful candidate will bring substantial experience in the area of services procurement and must be an innovative, energetic and a dynamic self-starter, who is able to deliver exceptional results.
The Category Buyer for Product & Technology Services reports to the Global Category Head and supports the Category Managers in executing the overall category strategy. In addition to core procurement responsibilities, the Buyer oversees comprehensive Stakeholder Management including structured Demand Management and acts as a procurement lead & trusted business partner for all Line-of-Business representatives. This role includes continuously monitoring market trends, engaging with stakeholders to understand evolving business needs, and ensuring ongoing alignment so that the procurement strategy effectively reflects and supports SAP’s strategic and operational demands.
EXPECTATIONS AND TASKS
-Act as a consultant and trusted business value enabler for key stakeholders.
-Understand and determine business requirements.
-Conduct strategic planning (demand & spend management).
-Responsible for supplier management and sourcing strategy as well as strategic sourcing events.
-Continuously identify opportunities for improvements, innovations, and savings.
-Perform market analyses / benchmarking and explore market capabilities to gain market intelligence.
-Focus on business needs / values and relationship management of internal and external key stakeholders according to stakeholder matrix.
EDUCATION AND QUALIFICATIONS / SKILLS AND COMPETENCIES
-University degree preferably in Business Administration or a related field.
-Solid understanding of end-to-end procurement processes and sourcing strategy development.
-Open-minded with a strong willingness to challenge the status quo and drive transformation.
-Knowledge of purchasing systems (e.g. SAP Ariba and/or SAP Fieldglass), MS office applications and purchasing processes.
-Fluent English (spoken, written); German is beneficial.
-Proven ability to collaborate within international teams and virtual environments.
-Solid stakeholder and supplier management capabilities, combined with excellent communication and negotiation skills and a strategic mindset.
WORK EXPERIENCE
-3–5+ years of procurement experience in Technology Services, IT, or enterprise software environments, ideally SAP-related.
-Proven experience in sourcing and managing services supporting SAP solutions (e.g., implementation, AMS, cloud operations, transformations).
-Strong track record in end-to-end sourcing (RfI/RfP, negotiations, contracting) with global system integrators and strategic partners.
-Experience working with business and IT stakeholders to enable successful rollout and adoption of SAP solutions.
-Solid understanding of industry standard delivery and commercial models (time & materials, managed services, outcome-based, consumption-based).
-Demonstrated ability to drive value beyond savings, including quality, delivery performance, and innovation.
-Experience operating in a global, matrixed enterprise with strong governance and compliance requirements.
