Royal IHC is seeking a highly motivated and experienced Senior Compliance Officer to join our international Compliance Team. This is a broad and dynamic role, that requires expertise across multiple areas of compliance, including anti-bribery and corruption, sanctions and export controls, and data protection and privacy. In this role you will also work closely with other disciplines including finance, treasury, tax, insurance, sales, logistics and procurement.Our compliance programme is principle-driven and closely aligned with the company’s core values of Partnership, Commitment and Innovation. You will play a key role in promoting a strong culture of business integrity and compliance across the organisation, ensuring that our operations meet regulatory requirements and ethical standards worldwide.
You will report directly to the Head of Group Legal & Company Secretary.Your key responsibility will be to drive business integrity and compliance across Royal IHC, driving continuous improvement of our global compliance programme, creating the maritime future honestly and with integrity.Your Responsibilities

  • Develop, implement, and maintain policies, procedures, and training and awareness initiatives across core areas of risk.
  • Advise business units on business integrity and compliance risks and support decision-making in line with applicable laws, internal policies, and company values.
  • Monitor global regulatory developments and assess their impact on the business.
  • Conduct risk assessments and support third-party due diligence efforts.
  • Lead or support internal investigations related to compliance concerns, incidents, or allegations.
  • Collaborate with multiple corporate disciplines and operational teams to ensure a coordinated and effective compliance approach.
  • Support reporting to senior management and regulators, as required.
  • Promote a culture of integrity and ethical conduct through communication, training, and engagement initiatives.

Your Profile

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Law, Economics, Compliance, or a related field.
  • 5–10 years of relevant compliance experience in an international business environment.
  • In-depth knowledge of anti-bribery and corruption, sanctions/export controls, and data protection.
  • Strong understanding of risk management and compliance frameworks.
  • Experience in developing and delivering compliance training and communication programme.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills; able to build trust and influence at all levels.
  • Excellent language skills in Dutch and English, both in writing and verbally.
  • Proactive, pragmatic, independent and principle-based approach.
  • Unquestioned integrity and ethics in business and personal conduct.
  • The experience and confidence to push for change and, when appropriate, to challenge the status quo, in a way that will be heard and respected.
