Provides specialist subject matter advice, guidance and assurance to senior leadership and operational teams. Support the delivery of the business and HSW strategy and objectives through ownership and delivery of projects, programmes within the Group HSW delivery plan.You’ll be responsible for:
- Acting as health and safety advisor in own area, to keep projects abreast of new developments and apply professional standards to ensure best practice.
- Maintaining core areas of expertise and imparting knowledge to aid the development and training of others.
- Applying tools and techniques, defining local strategies and methods to initiate and/or implement change to improve health and safety performance.
- Providing health and safety coaching and advice to Mace managers and project managers to assist them in achieving business objectives.
- Creating, developing and maintaining internal and external relationships to maximise impact of expertise and knowledge to influence the quality of decision making.
- Advising on and interpreting project contractual and statutory requirements and obligations to protect the project integrity.
- Establishing, developing and maintaining relationships with customers, partners and suppliers to assist the achievement of business targets.
- Taking part in the development of the health, safety and wellbeing management system, its implementation and audit.
- Measuring and monitoring health, safety and wellbeing performance.
- Overseeing health, safety and wellbeing risk management, health, safety and wellbeing incident reporting and investigation.
- Providing health, safety and wellbeing leadership and credibility, delivering through others and building lasting relationships.
- Overseeing health, safety and wellbeing emergency preparedness and response.
- Assisting the Health, Safety Wellbeing lead with development of strategic business unit initiatives.
- Supporting strategic health, safety and wellbeing risk management.
- Contributes to the development of and drive the implementation of health, safety and wellbeing (HSW) policies, procedures, guidance notes and standards.
- Responsible for execution of Group-wide delivery plans, programmes and projects ensuring delivery to planned time and budget.
- Provides support and guidance to the operational business to enable local delivery.
- Collaborates with HSW functions to enable them to support their clients across all groups and geographies.
- Remains up to date with the latest thinking and research relating to organisational health, safety and wellbeing.
- Analyses data outputs from surveys, audits, key performance indicators (KPI’s) and other data sources and identify opportunities for continuous improvement.
- Manages relationships and performance of suppliers ensuring contractual arrangements are delivered to quality, time and budget. Work with senior leaders and HSW stakeholders to deliver cost effective and efficient H&W performance.
- Identifies and implements continuous improvement plans/identifies key business improvements.
- Maintaining and developing the relationship with directors of operations.
- Maintaining and developing the relationship with the Head of H&S for clients.
You’ll need to have:
- Knowledge of HSW legislation and delivery relevant to their area of work.
- Experience of being the main point of contact with the client’s executive team, with regard to HS&W.
- Knowledge of current health and wellbeing issues and trends.
- Experience of supporting and developing team members’ HSW competency.
- To be able to network and share information and knowledge gained.
- To be able to present a range of technical information to non-technical audiences.
- Experience of working with existing buried services.
- Knowledge of sub & superstructure construction.
- To lift operations with multiple tower cranes.
- Knowledge of live services in an existing client operational environment.
- NEBOSH National Certificate in Construction Health and Safety, or equivalent as a minimum.
- Strong IT skills
- Can build lasting client and stakeholder relationships and lead strong, motivated teams
- Proven experience initiating, delivering and managing organisational health, safety and wellbeing projects and programmes and achieving results.
- Knowledge and application of relevant legislation and best practice.
- Ability to build and maintain effective stakeholder relationships.
- Attention to detail.
- Ability to coach and develop teams and individuals in developing health, safety and wellbeing competency
- Project and programme management skills and experience
- Communication and presenting skills.

- Working knowledge of the Construction industry.

- Delivering and embedding change management in a timely manner.
- Ability to influence at a senior level.
- Degree or equivalent work experience.
