The opportunity

As Senior Lecturer in Textile Design – Year 3 Leader, you are assume responsibility for the academic management and leadership of one or more Units on BA (Hons) Textile Design. Working in collaboration with the Course Leader, you will develop and co-deliver these units.

The role requires that you preside over the day to day management of the Unit/s including all areas of learning, teaching and assessment of students as well as resource allocation whilst observing and implementing the policies and procedures of the University and the College. The successful applicant will play a key role in working closely with the Course Leader on the recruitment and ongoing development of this course through re-approval.

About you

You will have an undergraduate and postgraduate qualification appropriate to the subject area of Textile Design, experience of course administration, pedagogic innovation, assessment processes and procedures essential for the role.  You will have a broad approach to Textile Design education, experience of working in interdisciplinary and cross-disciplinary practices and a specialism in two or more of the following: inclusive and social design, sustainability, circular design, print, weave, knit, stitch, mixed media, smart/e-textiles and emerging technologies, or bio-design. To inspire students and staff alike, you must be a leading practitioner in your field and up-to-date with the latest developments in the industry.  You will maintain strong links with design practitioners from a wide range of professions, subjects and disciplines and build collaborative links with a range of institutions and employers.  You will have confidence in managing large groups and communicating in a range of learning environments, including teaching via online platforms, on site large and small studio spaces, lecture theatre and seminar spaces.
