What is the job?This critical role is being created to enhance the effectiveness and on time delivery of strategic projects involving multi-disciplinary and cross departmental teams. Project scopes range in size, complexity and duration and cover multiple categories including lean manufacturing transformation, high value manufacturing equipment procurement, building infrastructure, estates and building construction, manufacturing, and office process flow change.Working Hours: Monday to Friday 8am – 4:30pmWhat is essential to us…· An honours degree or higher in business administration, management, engineering, or related field.· Extensive experience in project management including scoping, planning, resource management, budgeting, execution, and delivery.· Formal project management qualifications such as PRINCE2, PMP, PMI, SCRUM etc.· Good understanding of Lean principles / methodology & Leadership and management experience.· Strategic and collaborative thinking with excellent interpersonal and communication skills & Initiative and commitment.· Excellent analytical, root cause analysis and problem-solving skills.· Proficiency with Microsoft Office and other IT tools to support project management.· Excellent negotiation skills with external providers.Who we are?Thorlabs is a global, industry leading optical technologies company. Here in Ely, we are responsible for the Motion Control and Optical Tables product line.Where you will be working?This role will be working in our new purpose-built facility just 12 miles from Cambridge, within the beautiful mediaeval city of Ely. There are train and bus links to Ely from Kings Cross and Liverpool Street London.RequirementsWhat we would you like you to do…· Oversight and project management of key strategic projects involving multi-disciplinary cross departmental teams.· Work closely with the senior leadership team to determine specific business needs and projects.· Utilise project management tools to establish and manage costs, resources, performance measurements, timelines, and project deliverables.· Plan and lead project reviews with project team members & apply lean manufacturing principles.· Consolidate multiple project timelines into an overarching strategic picture whilst developing meeting/presentation materials.· Vetting and selection of external consultants and contractors to deliver building construction projects.· Work closely with external contractors, engineers, architects, and other stakeholders to ensure project specifications match Thorlabs needs.What will you get?At Thorlabs there are lots of opportunities for inhouse customised training and development that accelerates your career progression.
