6-12 monthsImmediate startHybrid workingKey Responsibilities:
- Manage projects or aspects of a project from contract commencement through development and delivery of space and ground segments, launch preparation, in-orbit commissioning, and subsequent service delivery and operations
- Responsible for all aspects of the project, operating in accordance with established procedures and processes (including schedules, deliverables lists, management plans, risk management, technical maturity gates, and earned value management)
- Day-to-day management of the project core team activities to ensure progress aligns with the baseline plan, demonstrating strong leadership and motivation
- Break down work into appropriate work packages and obtain agreements with engineering team leaders for required resources
- Communication with customers and internal stakeholders, including Engineering Functional Managers, Heads of Engineering, Project Accounting, Commercial teams, and the Leadership Team
- Complete management of major project reviews, ensuring successful outcomes to secure corresponding customer payment milestones
- Manage project key risks, ensuring they are identified and captured with measurable mitigation actions
- Monitor and control project finances, ensuring delivery within the agreed budget
- Prepare cost packs in support of business development activities
- Support bids by providing programmatic solutions, covering deliverables, schedule, costs, risks, and customer interactions
Job Requirements:
- Proven experience in project management, particularly in satellite or engineering/aerospace industries
- Experience of interfacing with customers
- Strong background in implementing contracts
- Familiarity with work package systems and matrix management structure
- A degree or equivalent in an engineering or technical discipline is preferable
- Excellent people management skills, capable of motivating and leading a team
- Good teamwork skills and the ability to interface at all levels
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to influence and negotiate
- High degree of organisation, self-motivation, and initiative
- Flexible and adaptable to changing priorities
- Results-oriented with a strong drive to deliver
- Pro-active and able to take initiative
- Decision-making and creative problem-solving skills
- Ability to deliver solutions under pressure and tight timescales
- Experience in working closely with technical teams to understand and translate concepts to schedule and cost impacts
- Ability to produce and maintain a risk register and communicate risk philosophies
- Understanding of commercial terms and their project impacts
- Competent in creating project plans and translating them into project schedules within MS Project
- Able to work autonomously and use own initiative
- Understanding of contracts and product assurance plans
- Proficient in MS Office, particularly Microsoft Project
