Applications are invited for a Senior Research Associate post in the Engineering Department at Lancaster University. The aim of the project is to develop a hybrid “heterogeneous and bio- catalytic” approach for chemical synthesis from CO2 . This project is funded by the EPSRC UK Catalysis Hub and is in partnership with the University of Aberdeen, University of Utah, and Tianjin University. This project will involve a significant amount of collaboration between the UK and international teams with testing of the developed system being conducted likely in all countries.

The role will encompass:

Conduct research under the supervision of Dr X. Wang in the area of hybrid heterogeneous and bio- catalysis;

Generate experimental results and prepare reports/publications;

Prepare and deliver seminars on the topic of research;

Provide assistance in the day to day running of the research group including supporting PhD and undergraduate research students.

To be considered for this role, you should possess a good degree in either Chemistry, Chemical Engineering or an equivalent subject. You must also have (or be in the process of submitting) an EngD or PhD in a field relevant to heterogeneous or photo catalysis. Experience of catalyst design, preparation, characterisation and testing is essential along with knowledge of reaction engineering/chemistry in general. Experience of enzymatic catalysis, continuous-flow chemistry and DFT calculations is also greatly beneficial. You must have excellent communication and team-working skills, the ability to write high-standard reports and work collaboratively with colleagues to generate high-quality research outputs.

This post is initially funded until 30/11/2024, and available for an immediate start. Interviews will be held in person and/or on-line.
