What You’ll Do:

  • Innovative Research: Implement a wide range of genomics assays, from RNA-seq and scRNA-seq techniques to epigenetics assays and next-generation sequencing. Your role will involve not only utilizing existing techniques but also pioneering new approaches to enhance our discovery methodologies.

  • Planning and executing data generating phases of screens where you will be designing and executing single cell and bulk transcriptomics workflows which are key parts of our discovery screening projects.
  • Maintain and improve critical lab workflows and equipment in collaboration with automation experts and vendors.
  • As part of the Discovery Genomics group, other responsibilities will include assisting with sequencing workflows, and data QC and analysis where appropriate.
  • You will demonstrate the ability to work effectively in multidisciplinary teams and will display excellent interpersonal and communication skills, interacting with scientists and external collaborators at all levels.
  • You will be expected to maintain knowledge of current scientific literature relevant to the role.
  • A proactive attitude, excellent organisational skills and good record keeping are essential. You will be expected to present your results/data at both internal and external meetings.

Basic QualificationsWe are looking for professionals with these required skills to achieve our goals:

  • PhD or equivalent laboratory experience in molecular and cellular biology with significant experience in genomics workflows.
  • Demonstrated experience in designing experiments using bulk RNA-seq and single cell RNA-seq and related technologies.
  • Sound knowledge of molecular biology techniques including: qRT-PCR, NGS library preparation and QC.
  • Demonstrated ability to design experiments, solve problems independently, troubleshoot protocols and implement novel protocols.
  • Proven ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team.
  • Strong organisational and communication skills and a demonstrated ability to liaise with scientists at all levels of seniority.

Preferred QualificationsIf you have the following characteristics, it would be a plus:

  • Experience in applying computational analysis methodologies for genomics data, including data QC, pre-processing and primary analysis, in particular for RNA-seq or single cell RNA-seq.
  • Understanding of focused and/or genome-wide pooled CRISPR screens.
  • Understanding of the drug discovery process and how genomics can be used to support target discovery and assets in later stages of the pipeline.
  • Working knowledge of immunology or experience with primary human cell based projects.
  • Demonstrated experience in working on projects using complex in vitro models, such as primary (immune) cells, iPSCs or organoids/spheroids.
