QIAGEN Barcelona is a leading center for syndromic diagnostics, focusing on innovative solutions for infectious diseases. We are seeking a Senior Scientist in the Product Excellence Integrated Assays Department to lead complex studies in molecular biology, microfluidics and materials science, particularly for the QIACUITY digital PCR platform plastic consumable.Key Responsibilities:

  • Utilize root cause analysis techniques to investigate product failures and develop theoretical models.
  • Design and execute experiments to validate models and provide recommendations for improvements.
  • Monitor and optimize manufacturing processes for complex diagnostic devices.
  • Plan and conduct experiments involving real-time PCR (both manual and automated), digital PCR (dPCR), DNA/RNA extraction (both manual and automated), handling and processing biological samples at BSL2 and assessing enzymatic activities.
  • Conducting and documenting investigations and projects (own and/or within Team) according to quality standards and regulatory requirements(ISO 13485, 21CFR820, IVDR).
  • Report findings to management and maintain documentation according to regulatory requirements.

Position Requirements

  • University degree (PhD preferred) in a relevant scientific discipline (e.g., Biochemistry, Biomedical Engineering, Biology and Biomedicine, Chemistry, Physics).
  • Extensive and demonstrable experience in RT-PCR assays.
  • Advanced and demonstrable experience in fluorescence microscopy techniques.
  • Relevant laboratory experience will include microfluidics, biomaterials, surface science, and automated liquid handling applications.
  • Hands-on attitude, enjoying working prototypes, designing experiments, and executing tests.
  • Minimum 5 years in similar role in industry.
  • Proficiency in design control, data analysis, and project management; strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Full professional proficiency in English; experience in supervising and leading teams
  • Self-motivated, curious, proactive, with strong problem-solving abilities.
