The Role:

 

The Senior Software Developer will support the co-design and development of community-centered digital solutions, monitoring, and operational procedures by ensuring data safety and security compliance. Additionally, the role contributes to the business development team for ICT Development initiatives. Furthermore, overseeing consultants to deliver quality outputs within designated timelines, extending technical support to other CJNRR projects, embedding digital inclusion across projects, and effectively contributing to the field-level co-production workshops with communities are also some key purposes of this role. Ultimately, the Senior Software Developer will contribute significantly to the pathways to Oxfam’s mission of ensuring climate justice, natural resource rights, social inclusion, and sustainable, inclusive development through digital innovation.

Key Responsibilities: 

  • Provide technical support to Oxfam in Bangladesh on innovative digital solutions (interactive App development, dashboard, and toolkit development) for disadvantaged communities.
  • Conceptualize, coordinate and develop information-sharing apps, interactive mapping platforms, and other toolkits related to ecosystem services, climate adaptation, loss and damage etc., for the marginalized community as well as pilot implementation and launch in Bangladesh, working in close collaboration with the communities, and key multi-stakeholders.
  • Develop operational guidelines and standard operating procedures for the developed digital tools.  
  • Monitor digital innovation trends, policies, and relevant funding opportunities and contribute to business development on ICT for Development solutions.
  • Along with the monitoring and test applications, this position will disseminate the findings, good practices, and lessons learned captured accordingly related to ICT for development.
  • Ensure all necessary data safety and protection requirements are met as required by Oxfam policies and practices.
  • Provide ongoing support to project staff as needed (targeted working sessions, coaching, and problem-solving) on ICT for Development solutions introduced.
  • Support the business development team of Oxfam in Bangladesh for grant proposal development, Innovations & ICT initiatives.
    Monitor and oversee the technical tasks assigned to consultants and ensure timely delivery of quality outputs.

Experience:

A Minimum of 05 Years of professional experience in the relevant sector.

Education:

  • Undergraduate and Postgraduate degree (optional) in Information Technology, Computer Science, and Software Engineering from a reputed university.

Technical skills:

  • Minimum 3 years of native Android development experience      
  • Java and Kotlin experience
  • Good understanding of Android Studio and Gradle
  • Good understanding of software design principles and patterns (MVVM)
  • Good understanding of version control systems (SVN, Git)
  • Experience using 3rd party software libraries and SDKs
  • Experience using REST service APIs
  • Experience working with GEO location
  • Experience working with Jetpack libraries
  • Familiarity with text-to-speech features

Process skills:

  • At least 3 years of experience working in Scrum or other Agile software development Environment
  • Familiarity with Agile development-related tools such as Trello
  • Experience in user-centric development
  • Teamwork experience
  • Familiarity with UI testing
