Social Media Officer (UK Wide) 

  • £28,211 per annum (pro rata for part time hours)

  • Base: A Sustrans office with the flexibility to work from home. 

About the role 

This is an exciting opportunity to join the Brand, Content and Storytelling team to manage the
Sustrans UK-wide social media channels. 

As the Social Media Officer, you will work across platforms such as LinkedIn, X (formally
Twitter), Instagram and YouTube. You will work closely with the Storytelling Officers and Media
Officers to adapt relevant content to suit different channels and audiences in line with our
strategic goals.

You will create and share content that drives engagement, increases brand awareness and
inspires followers to take an action, considering equality, diversion, and inclusion at all
times. You will work to our brand and house style guidelines, producing content that supports
Sustrans’ campaigning, fundraising and policy influencing work.

This role covers the UK. We may occasionally need you to travel for team meetings and to
collaborate with key colleagues based in our hubs across the UK, and this may include
occasional overnight stays. 

About you 

You should have experience of using social media scheduling to strategically share and inform
content creation across multiple channels to increase reach and engagement. 

You will also have the ability to produce compelling and engaging copy for social media, as
well as having excellent editing and proofreading skills. We ask that also have graphic
creation skills such as infographics and digital visual assets, and be able to create
small-scale multimedia assets such as Reels. 

We ask that you demonstrate your knowledge of digital copywriting principals as well as an
understanding of social media monitoring tool and meaningful metrics to gain insight on
performance and to inform our wider content and communications plans.
