Software Engineer – Podman Desktop (France) in Puteaux, France

About the job

The Red Hat Engineering team is looking for a Software Engineer to join us in France. In this role, you will build the next generation container tool Podman Desktop, which is designed to simplify the migration of applications to container and Kubernetes environments. As a software engineer, you will join a team of talented engineers, design and develop new features in full collaboration with the technical lead and the team

What you will do

• Work with our Podman Desktop team to design, develop and deliver functionality in Podman Desktop; we are a global team that mostly communicates via video conferencing, email, and direct messaging

• Participate in open source development with upstream communities (Podman, Kubernetes)

• Implement new features

• Work with modern cloud native technology such as Kubernetes, OpenShift

• Collaborate with other engineers, product managers, and product designers to shape, build, and improve new and existing features

• Assist the team in troubleshooting and resolving issues

What you will bring

• Software engineering experience with an emphasis on application development and container tools

• Expertise in developing developer tools interfaces using Electron, TypeScript or similar technology

• Knowledge of the UNIX or Linux operating system (any distribution)

• Good written and verbal communication skills in English and ability to work with distributed teams in an agile environment

• Previous code contributions to or participation in open source projects or code samples on GitHub

• Experience and knowledge of containers, Podman, Red Hat OpenShift, and Kubernetes is a plus

• Experience with IA models development workflow and tools is a big advantage
