Randstad Student Support is recruiting Specialist One-to-One Study Skills ASC Support Workers to work with autistic students studying at universities and/or colleges.

As a Specialist One-to-One Study Skills Support Worker, you will provide learning support and academic guidance. This includes creating an individual learning plan tailored to the student’s needs that encourages them to become an independent learner.

As a Specialist-one-to-one Study Skills Support Worker, you are required to support students to:

Develop independence

Build on strengths and learning strategies
*

Create strategies around organisation and time management
*

Create action plans to stay on track with studies
*

Build on research skills – widening knowledge by using a variety of sources
*

Distinguish appropriate sources and how to correctly use references
*

Build on comprehension skills within reading and writing

While working for Randstad, consider the needs of individual students case by case and ensure any concerns are addressed in a timely manner. It is expected that you act professionally and maintain confidentiality in your role at all times, sharing all relevant information with Randstad to ensure the best possible service to your students.

Requirements for the role:

As this is a specialist role, you must have the correct qualifications and training. All students you support are funded by the Disabled Students Allowance (DSA) meaning all candidates providing this role must adhere to the qualification framework set out by the DfE.

Candidates must be qualified to undergraduate degree level (level 6 as minimum), have a teaching qualification AND have taken extensive training in adult autism.

* AS Mentoring Requirements: If you are applying to support AS students, you will need a relevant degree along with either the 6 NAS modules (National Autistic Society) or the Optimum Student Support training course: Autism and ADHD in Higher Education: Recognising and addressing the barriers through Non-Medical Helper (NMH) Mentoring and Study Skills Strategies.
