At the Department of Economics (ECON), Copenhagen Business School (CBS), Frederiksberg, Denmark we regard it a central task to explain what motivates decision-makers, how economic institutions are – or should be – designed, and whether the interaction between institutional design and motivation leads to an efficient or optimal outcome from society’s point of view. Our research is often related to specific challenges facing different organisations.We are looking for a student research assistant for an average of 10 hours per week. The position has a large degree of flexibility, including during exam periods, and it is not time-restricted. The expected start date is August 15, 2025. You are expected to be able to be present at the department regularly. However, this will be defined in more detail together with your supervisor.Specifics for the position and your role
The core activity of the student assistant will be related to database work and assistance with empirical research. Examples of tasks are: Accessing and setting up data sets for analysis, cleaning data and documenting the process. Code writing and implementation of analysis will also be common tasks. The work will be directed by researchers in our department. Furthermore, you may be asked to produce publication-style tables and figures, and support faculty in working with registry data (Statistics Denmark). To summarise, you will undertake various tasks, including but not limited to: Data management, statistical programming, literature reviews and from time to time also some ad hoc tasks.About the candidate
You will have a good understanding of economics and/or statistics and econometrics, e.g. from the pursuit of a related degree, and preferably a good understanding of STATA, R and Matlab. Solid academic grades in your current studies, fluency in Danish and English, an ability to work independently as well as in teams, good organisational skills, and a willingness/enthusiasm to learn new methods will also be important.When occupying the vacancies, we prioritise, e.g.:
- Knowledge of STATA, R and/or Matlab
- Knowledge of economics, econometrics and statistics,
- Experience from previous occupation
- Grades achieved
Salary and employment conditions
Employment will be according to the HK organisational agreement and the Joint Agreement between the Ministry of Finance and Public Employees’ Organisations (OAO-S Joint Agreement).The salary currently ranges between DKK 141,14 and DKK 148,06 per hour and is dependent on previous employment in the office profession and level of education. The pension contribution amounts to 16% of the pensionable salary components.It is a condition for employment that you are an active student enrolled at a Danish institution in higher education or a professional bachelor program, and that, at the start date at the latest, you have a physical address in Denmark, a Danish social security number and a Danish bank account.Recruitment Process
