To this end, we are seeking new team members who will step up our efforts to roll out Fluxys grid infrastructure projects in Belgium.The Engineering Terminals and Backbones Department at our head office in Brussels is looking for a Study Engineer – Energy Transition (m/f/x).You will be responsible for coordinating and implementing study-related activities concerning the construction of new pipelines and the repurposing of existing pipelines with a view to making the energy transition in Belgium a reality.
- You will be responsible for studies, including preliminary studies, of pipeline new-build or alteration projects, which will form part of our green transmission infrastructure and which are aimed at making the energy transition a reality
- You will investigate potential routes for the transmission pipelines and compare potential solutions. You will consult with the stakeholders involved, such as local or regional authorities, administrative services and potential customers, and will sound out the various options with them
- Ahead of the repurposing of existing natural gas pipelines for green energy carriers, you will investigate the possibilities in this regard and flesh out the required alteration work
- You will coordinate the internal and external studies and provide the required plans and documents for permit applications, the procurement of materials and the execution of the work. You will be supported in this regard by the Community Relations Department
- You will complete your projects within the agreed deadlines and in accordance with legal requirements and quality, reliability and safety principles, taking into account the relevant budgetary considerations
- You have a master’s degree in industrial or civil engineering in electromechanics, civil works, chemistry or energy
- Experience in drawing up environmental or permit applications, consulting with administrative and public services or rolling out civil engineering projects or constructing pipelines, linear infrastructure or chemical (including petrochemical) installations would be a plus
- You have a strong analytical and critical mindset with an eye for quality and safety
- You have excellent communication and interpersonal skills, enjoy cooperation and negotiation and know how to motivate others
- You speak fluent Dutch and French and have a good command of English
- You have a category B driving licence and are willing to travel frequently within Belgium
