We have a fantastic opportunity for a dedicated Teaching Assistant to join a team at a unique school for 11-16 year-olds with Social, Emotional, and Mental Health (SEMH) needs. This school blends the best elements of mainstream and special education to create an environment where students can thrive academically, socially, and emotionally.
What You’ll Do:
As a Teaching Assistant, you’ll play a vital role in supporting students with their learning and overall well-being. You’ll help create a safe and nurturing environment, promoting independence, positive behaviour, and personal development. Working closely with teachers and the wider school team, you’ll contribute to the delivery of an engaging and tailored curriculum that helps each student reach their potential.
Key Responsibilities:
* Build supportive, trusting relationships with pupils, helping them feel safe and confident.
* Promote independence and maintain high expectations for behaviour.
* Assist in delivering high-quality, differentiated educational activities.
* Support the Class Teacher with daily classroom activities.
* Respond flexibly to the needs of the school, ensuring a smooth running of the day.
* Foster pupils’ social, emotional, and cognitive development.
* Work collaboratively with a multi-professional team to support the needs of pupils.
About You:
* GCSEs (or equivalent) in Maths and English are essential.
* No prior experience required, but a passion for working with young people is a must.
* Understanding of safeguarding and child protection principles.
* Creative, positive, and able to meet pupils’ individual needs.
* A genuine commitment to putting the child first.
