We are delighted to be seeking to recruit a Teaching Associate to join the dynamic and growing programme of Liberal Arts in the School of Cultures, Languages and Area Studies at the University of Nottingham.

Liberal Arts is an innovative and interdisciplinary programme that offers undergraduate students the choice to study across the Faculties of Arts, Social Sciences and Sciences. Liberal Arts and interdisciplinary teaching are growing areas within the University of Nottingham. The department has established a culture of pedagogical innovation, close collaboration amongst colleagues, a global outlook and a friendly and supportive learning environment for students.

Our School thrives through the different ideas and experiences of colleagues, who come from a mix of cultures and backgrounds. We strive to foster a welcoming, inspiring and supportive workplace. We are seeking applications from candidates whose background, experience and identity broadens and enhances the diversity of our existing team and would especially welcome applications from members of groups who are currently underrepresented in the School, particularly minoritised candidates. We understand that having a mix of perspectives, lived experiences and approaches to teaching and research enhances our day-to-day work and enriches our School community.

The main purpose of role is to maintain, develop and deliver high quality and innovative teaching, at the undergraduate level, to an expanding cohort of Liberal Arts students. The successful candidate will design and deliver interdisciplinary Liberal Arts modules, while also working collaboratively with Liberal Arts colleagues and colleagues across the faculties of Arts and Social Sciences to develop and maintain the global orientation and cross-disciplinary learning of the programme. They will also be expected to support students in studying across multiple disciplines through tutorials and mentorship.

The applicant will have some experience of teaching at an undergraduate level. While expertise in any one subject area is not essential, applicants must be able to demonstrate some experience of teaching across disciplinary boundaries.

The role holder will be expected to actively contribute to the administration of the programme and participate in national and international scholarly debates in the field of Liberal Arts and interdisciplinary teaching and learning.

Applicants must have a PhD in a topic/field that involves interdisciplinary work.

This is a permanent, full-time post (36.25 hours). Job share arrangements may be considered.

Informal enquiries may be addressed to Uditi Sen via email [email protected]. Please note that applications sent directly to this email address will not be accepted.
