Teaching Technician

We are looking for an enthusiastic individual with a teaching or research background to join the Faculty of Life Sciences as a Teaching Technician. The role holder will work as part of a small team of techs, ensuring the smooth running of the Cellular and Molecular Medicine (CMM) / level 4 teaching laboratory, meeting all the teaching deadlines and learning outcomes, whilst maintaining compliance with relevant Health & Safety regulations

This role will contribute significantly to the running of the CMM / level 4 teaching Laboratory, actively responding to the changing priorities and needs of a busy, dynamic environment, working to tight timeframes, helping to manage resource requirements to meet scheduled teaching activities is essential, e.g. teaching session preparation, ensuring availability of functional equipment, consumables availability.

Preferably you should have experience of working in a laboratory environment, in the biosciences and with chemical and biological reagents and material.  You will also have an enthusiasm for scientific teaching and research, and a desire to provide high quality technical support for teaching / research purposes.

Due to the nature of the job, flexible working hours are required at times e.g. early starts / late finishes, during busy teaching periods. You should also demonstrate good interpersonal skills, organisational skills, be efficient, adaptable, and familiar with working as part of a team to meet the teaching deadlines is essential.

Excellent IT and organisational skills are essential.
The need to consistently maintain a high level of accuracy and precision in all areas of work.
A Microbiology or Cell culture background is desirable, but not essential.
