The Patrick G Johnston Centre for Cancer Research, School of Medicine, Dentistry & Biomedical Sciences (MDBS) at Queen’s University Belfast, is currently seeking to appoint an exceptional candidate to the post of Technician.

The successful candidate will undertake specialist technical and analytical duties for the diagnostics and clinical research activities of the Precision Medicine Centre of Excellence (PMC).

The successful candidate must have, and your application should clearly demonstrate that you meet the following criteria: 

  • An academic and/or vocational qualification at OND/ONC or NVQ level 3 and above in a relevant subject (or equivalent), for example a relevant qualification in Applied Science or relevant health science subject (Biomedical Science, Immunology, Molecular Biology, Genetics, Biochemistry).
  • 3 years’ relevant work experience within a Health Science laboratory that includes Genomics/Molecular Pathology.
  • Experience of genomics or molecular biology techniques.
  • Experience with clinical specimen processing.

    This post is available until 28/02/2026. Fixed term contract posts are available for the stated period in the first instance but in particular circumstances may be renewed or made permanent subject to availability of funding.
